The Nickersons exchanged uneasy glances. “She’s pretty, of course,” Mr. Nickerson said. “She’s also very charming.”
Mrs. Nickerson agreed. “I hate to say it, but I couldn’t find anything wrong with her. She’s polite, well-bred, intelligent, funny, and crazy about Ned.”
"But she’s not you," Mr. Nickerson added quickly.
"Thanks," Nancy said, smiling sadly. "I wish Ned felt that way."
